AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland issued an open challenge on Collision this week, which was answered by a popular Japanese veteran. This was Swerve's return to the Saturday show as well. The 48-year-old legend in question is Tomohiro Ishii.
Swerve Strickland has been a fighting champion ever since winning the AEW world title months ago. In addition to the pay-per-views, he has also successfully defended the title on TV for the past few months. Strickland issued an open challenge on the most recent episode of Collision.
The 33-year-old last wrestled on Collision back in April, where he defeated Claudio Castagnoli. To answer Swerve's open challenge, Tomohiro Ishii came out and had an AEW World Title Eliminator match. The bout happened to be a hard-hitting encounter between the two.
At the end of the matchup, Swerve managed to win over Ishii by connecting with a House Call.
Meanwhile, Strickland is slated to defend his World Championship against Bryan Danielson at the upcoming All In 2024 event at Wembley Stadium in a Title vs. Career match. It remains to be seen who emerges victorious and walks out with the title.
