Hulk Hogan pushed WCW to a whole new level when joined the company in the 90s. AEW star Scorpio Sky stated that Chris Jericho has had the same effect on Tony Khan's promotion.
The Demo God has been in the wrestling business for more than three decades. His career began in the early 90s. After competing in numerous top promotions like WWE, ECW, NJPW, and many more, he landed on the AEW roster in 2019. Jericho was one of AEW's first biggest signings.
Scorpio Sky recently appeared as the special guest on Chris Van Vleit's Insight podcast. During the discussion, he compared Tony Khan signing The Ocho to WCW getting Hulk Hogan in 1994.
"I always tell people like Chris Jericho legitimized AEW in the early days. Because people looked at us and they knew there was talent and they’re like, Okay, Young Bucks, FCU, Kenny Omega yada, yada. But when Chris Jericho signs on, that’s when like, the television networks are like, 'Oh, okay, they’ve got a guy.' I always think it’s similar to when Hulk Hogan went to WCW in the mid-90s. It’s just like, it puts that stamp, okay, we’ve arrived."

He added:
"For him to come in, and take young talent like myself, like Jungle Boy, Darby [Allin], I just described myself as a younger talent [laughs]. But also, he’s worked with so many guys, and made us all good in some way, shape, or form, whether he won the match or not. He put us up there with him and he doesn’t have to do that. But that just shows he’s a giving guy and that helped me a lot in the very early stages of AEW.” [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
