AEW star has made a bold claim about the company's champions

An AEW star recently made a bold claim about himself which may upset some champions in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

The star happens to be none other than Brian Cage who is one of the most exciting big men in All Elite Wrestling. He is currently part of The Embassy and is a former Ring of Honor Six-Man Tag Team Champion. Many fans often question why Cage has not been pushed as a main event star in the promotion and it seems like the latter agrees with the fans.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, Brian Cage claimed that AEW should make him a champion, however, they seemed to like to throw titles on everybody else.

"If you're looking at them and you're looking at me, the only person that actually looks like a champion is probably me. You go walking through the airports, down the street from the hotel on the way to the gym, in the Uber, out the Uber, around all the general population, they don't look at you as some superstar or some champion, they just see you as an average Joe."

He continued further:

"Then they see me, minding my own business, looking jacked and swole as I always do, they do a double or maybe even a triple turn and say, 'Hold on, you're somebody right? ... Are you a wrestler? You look like you gotta be a superstar.' That's right because I am. It should be easy to make me a superstar just by existing but for some reason, they wanna throw these titles to everybody else." AEW star Brian Cage reflects on his relationship with CM Punk

CM Punk was a controversial figure in AEW. Punk had many altercations in the company with the likes of The Young Bucks, Hangman Adam Page, and Jack Perry.

However, he also built some great friendships in the promotion. During the live signing for Whatnot, Brian Cage spoke about his relationship with CM Punk. He revealed that Punk wasn't always good to him but they later squashed their beef.

"CM Punk wasn’t bad to me, wasn’t always good to me, wasn’t bad to me, which is kind of, whatever, and I think too because he knows I was a West Coast guy, so I’m kind of team Young Buck. But, I remember, it took a while too, for us to actually talk and properly introduce ourselves, and it was fine; we squashed it, and I had his last match on TV," he said. [H/T - Postwrestling]

CM Punk was fired after his backstage altercation with Jack Perry at the AEW All In pay-per-view. The Best in the World has returned to the WWE since and has made amends with the CCO Triple H.
