AEW star claims he made "ten times" his WWE salary after the release

AEW is WWE's only true competitor!

AEW star has recently made a surprising revelation about his earnings after leaving WWE. The wrestler is none other than Colt Cabana.

Cabana, a seasoned performer who has made his mark in promotions like ROH, NWA, and NJPW, took a significant pay cut when he decided to join WWE in 2007. Despite this, he viewed it as a calculated risk, betting on himself and his potential for success.

In a recent episode of "Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw," Colt Cabana shed light on his decision. According to Cabana, he made an astonishing "ten times" more money after parting ways with the wrestling giant.

"I knew it was an investment in my future. That's the only place you can make millions of dollars, so I went to OVW for a year [and] I got over... I wasn't set up to have the best situation [when I got called up to the main roster,] so I had six matches of losing very quickly. [But] it led to the most success I've ever had in my career, which was my post-WWE career [where] I made ten times what I made in WWE," Cabana said. [H/T - Wrestling Inc.]

After leaving the promotion in 2009, Colt Cabana ventured into alternative comedy. He utilized platforms like YouTube, podcasts, and social media to pioneer a new path for wrestlers. His influential podcast "The Art of Wrestling," launched in 2010, solidified his position as a wrestling podcast pioneer.

In a similar vein, Sami Zayn revealed that his WWE developmental contract was only 39% of his earnings on the independent circuit.

Former WWE Star Colt Cabana talks about his AEW contract

Colt Cabana has confirmed that despite not competing in AEW since November 2022, he remains under contract with the promotion as both a wrestler and producer.

Speaking on the Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw podcast, Cabana expressed his excitement about his current dual role with AEW.

"I’m contracted with AEW as a producer and wrestler. So it’s unbelievable for me that that’s a reality right now at my age. I love it," said Cabana.
