Ricky Starks continues to be one of AEW's most talked-about performers, especially in light of the Tony Khan-led company pulling him from multiple scheduled appearances at shows organized by GCW. The independent company recently named his replacement for an upcoming match The Absolute was set to compete in - the substitute being none other than Effy himself.

The wrestling world is still discussing AEW withdrawing Ricky Starks from appearing at several upcoming GCW events, including the upcoming December 14 show - Highest In The Room 3, where the 34-year-old star was scheduled to take on Matt Cardona. The promotion has now officially named Effy as Starks' replacement to face The Indy King on its X/Twitter profile.

Notably, recent reports have speculated that certain comments made by Effy some time earlier about Tony Khan's father Shad Khan may have been somewhat responsible for All Elite Wrestling pulling Starks from his planned GCW dates. It remains to be seen how this situation continues to develop.

Matt Cardona took responsibility for AEW's Ricky Starks being pulled out of GCW bout

Ricky Starks has not competed inside an All Elite ring since March this year. Though fans were excited regarding the prospect of Stroke Daddy squaring off with Matt Cardona at GCW Highest In The Room 3, the bout was ultimately scrapped after Starks was pulled from his future GCW appearances by AEW.

Cardona, who is always prepared to use social media to taunt his rivals and potential opponents, hilariously claimed to have been behind Starks being unable to wrestle him next month. Taking to X/Twitter, The Death Match King wrote:

"I have used my creative control to get rid of this fake independent wrestler," wrote Cardona.

Whether Tony Khan will bring Ricky Starks back into the fold on All Elite Wrestling programming remains to be seen. According to the latest reports, the Louisiana native is contracted to the Jacksonville-based promotion till 2025. As his television absence continues, rumors continue to abound about Starks' potential move to WWE once his All Elite deal expires.
