Dustin Rhodes recently made history with The Von Erichs by winning a championship at AEW Battle of The Belts. Cody Rhodes was defending his Undisputed WWE Championship that same night and is now weighing in on the big generational alliance.
The Natural linked up with Ross and Marshall Von Erich in ROH and earned a shot at the vacant World Six-Man Tag Team Championship by defeating The Dark Order. Thereafter, the sons of WWE Hall of Famers defeated The Undisputed Kingdom at AEW Battle of The Belts XI on Saturday, July 27. This was also a big night for The American Nightmare as he was wrapping up his first Japanese tour as champion, retaining over AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura in Tokyo, and receiving a special surprise.
Cody recently spoke with Sports Illustrated and gave an endorsement to the third-generation Von Erichs teaming with his second-generation brother. He also revealed how much he looked up to their father, Kevin Von Erich.
"Dustin doing the spot with the Von Erichs was so cool. I have such a love for the Von Erichs. I don’t think Kevin knows this, but I studied Kevin, I watched Kevin, I was so fascinated by Kevin Von Erich. To see his kids and Dustin, it was very touching," Cody Rhodes said.
