A top AEW star is almost ready to leave the promotion. Penta's contract is set to expire very soon and according to recent reports, he'll not stay in the Jacksonville-based company.
A new report from Fightful Select stated that Pentagon Jr.'s AEW deal will expire next week, after which he'll be a free agent. It was also said that WWE is reportedly interested in acquiring his services. However, no official confirmation regarding the matter has been given yet. Additionally, it was disclosed that many independent promotions want to book him in high-profile matches once he becomes a free agent.
Wrestling fans are excited to see the 39-year-old star start a new journey after potentially departing AEW. They want him to land in WWE and hope to see him join the NXT roster.
One fan was excited as they exclaimed:
A fan wrote, "NXT desperately needs someone like him in the world title scene."
"Ik reports said he would go to the MR immediately but NXT NEEDS HIM," said a user.
The WWE Universe wants him to make his debut at Royal Rumble 2025.
A tweet read, "A debut for him at RR would be lit. Pumped to see him in WWE."
"He’ll enter the rumble at like 1-5 spot and last an hour," another fan commented.
When is Rey Fenix potentially leaving AEW?
Earlier it was reported that Penta and his brother Rey Fenix would leave AEW together because both their contracts were set to expire around the same time. However, Tony Khan seemingly added injury clauses to their current arrangements, which extended their deals for a few more months.
Fenix's injury time was reportedly significantly greater than Penta's, almost by a year. Therefore, the former will have to spend some more time in the Jacksonville-based promotion, while, the latter will say goodbye to the company soon.
The 33-year-old star was also reportedly set to make a move to WWE alongside his brother. Hopefully, he will reunite with Penta once his contract ends.
