A WWE veteran recently spoke about Bill Goldberg. He felt the star could make his way to AEW for a brief stint, after his run with the Stamford-based promotion.

The former Universal Champion recently announced that he would be competing in his WWE retirement match in 2025. He became the second icon to announce something along these lines in the past few months, with John Cena doing so earlier in the year. Goldberg's recent run-in with Gunther fueled speculations that the two could share the ring for his last match in the promotion. Now veteran commentator Jim Ross has had his say.

During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross felt that if Goldberg decided to join AEW after his 2025 WWE retirement match, it would be a good opportunity for the legend from a financial standpoint. Even if it turned out to be a one-off match, it'd be a way to gain visibility for future projects. He further noted that his agent must use this opportunity to get the Hall of Famer restarted and back on television.

“`He’s an athletic freak, without question. […] Hey, look, there’s a big pay day there for him, and our agent, Barry Bloom, it gets him restarted as far as awareness is concerned for other projects. It may be one-off in the ring, but it’s a multi-level prospect if he does it. […] If he gets himself back on television,” said Ross. [H/T: RSN]

Goldberg said AEW's product is "cheesy"

Earlier this year, Goldberg addressed the rumors and speculation that he had spoken to Tony Khan in the past. He said that he had no plans to join the Jacksonville-based company, as he wasn't a fan of their product.

While on 93.7 The Ticket, the veteran mentioned how AEW's product was too "cheesy" for him, and he could not see himself as a member of the roster. He felt that if a more viable option was available, he might have considered that instead.

"I've talked to him a number of times throughout the past. But, you know, and this is where you're gonna get the most blunt answer you're gonna get from me. The product is too cheesy. The product is too cheesy. It doesn't deserve to have, I mean, whatever, I mean, now you're really gonna get me going, but if there was a comparable viable option as a competitor that would allow me to still look myself in the mirror after I was a member of their roster, yeah. Then it would be a consideration. But not a chance," he said. [16:57 - 17:37]

In the wrestling world, nothing is impossible. With many big names in the industry jumping ship between both companies, there could still be a possibility for AEW to land Goldberg. But in the end, it depends on whether Tony Khan and the company actively go after him.
