A former AEW star has experienced some of the most traumatic events imaginable in her life. While reflecting on that time, she admitted to resorting to substances for the sake of her health.
The superstar, who is a former AEW Women's World Champion, is Saraya. The former Anti-Diva has faced numerous challenges in her life, including the leak of her private content, major career setbacks, and injuries.
During a conversation with John Moyer on her Rulebreakers with Saraya podcast, the English pro wrestler admitted that she was addicted to drugs for six years. This led to her facing a lot of problems, both professionally and personally.
“And you know, I—I was the same way because I—I love, um, drugs, right? Cuz you’re—you’re like six years now. Six years. And I really needed it cuz [sic] I was getting, like, I was getting in so much trouble, and I was ending up on TMZ, and just, like, I was ruining relationships. Yeah, it was just business and personal, you know; I was ruining a lot of things. Yeah, it’s a—it’s a spiral, dude. It’s crazy!” she said. [H/T: Ringside News]
Former AEW star Saraya admitted to having a drinking problem in her surroundings growing up
In the same edition of the podcast, Saraya also stated that she came from a family of alcoholics. The former WWE Superstar added that the drinking culture surrounding her in England was such that she drank until she blacked out.
''I’ve always been surrounded by alcohol, especially being from England, you know, where that’s—the culture is to drink, you know. But, um, I’m the same way when it comes to—I can’t just have one. I can’t do it. I have to have [it]—once I have one, I’m, like, I’m in trouble, and then I will go until I’m blacked out,” she revealed. [H/T: Ringside News]
