A four-time WWE champion has revealed that he is ready to join AEW immediately and expressed his desire to fully work for the company. This should undoubtedly interest Tony Khan.
Matt Riddle is one of the most controversial wrestling stars in the business, and he had an interesting time in WWE. During his tenure there, he won the United States Championship and NXT Tag Team Title once, along with the RAW Tag Team Championship twice with Randy Orton.
Since leaving WWE in 2023, he has been quite active on the independent scene. He recently spoke with Going Ringside and revealed that he would love to work for All Elite Wrestling. He said:
“Yeah, I would totally work for AEW. I feel like when they first started, they hired a lot of former WWE guys and I think that left a bad taste in their mouth, because other than Moxley and maybe another couple, it didn’t really work out too well. Most of them just got fat checks and didn’t do much. So, and I think they don’t want to deal with that.” [H/T Ringside News]
Matt Riddle says he is not a fan of former AEW star CM Punk
In the same interview with Going Ringside, Matt Riddle revealed that he is not a fan of former AEW star CM Punk. Punk is a polarizing figure, and it seems that Riddle really dislikes him.
“You know, I'm not a big fan of that guy [CM Punk] either. That guy su*ks at fighting. He's a b*tch to work with in the back… Because he just bellyaches and complains. This guy complains about getting multiple world title runs… I've heard from my boys that still work there [WWE] that he is a headache, and this isn't a storyline. This is the facts. So, this is what it is,” he said.
It will be interesting to see if CM Punk will have anything to say about this and how Riddle will react.
