Tony Khan has received a lot of criticism for his booking of AEW's women's division

AEW has gotten a lot of praise from its fans over the last four years, but if there is a consistent sore spot, it's the women's division. Current TBS Champion Kris Statlander has now spoken up about these issues.

Despite having created major stars like Jade Cargill and Britt Baker, AEW's creative direction for female talent has always been seen as lackluster. Company president Tony Khan has also gotten flak for continuing to book only one women's match per show and leaving fan favorites off television for long amounts of time.

Speaking on the Ring the Belle podcast, AEW star Kris Statlander addressed the lack of TV given to women in the promotion:

"I do wish that we could get more time because I do feel if we're given time, with the right people, we're gonna put on a show that no one's ever gonna forget. That's just life, though," said Statlander.

The TBS Champion referred to the situation as an uphill battle:

"We're just always gonna keep fighting an uphill battle no matter what we do, not just in wrestling, but in all of life because that's just what happens when you're a woman sometimes." [H/T Fightful]

AEW's Kris Statlander shares one regret from WWE appearance in 2019

While Kris Statlander is currently the TBS Champion and one of AEW's biggest stars, she once made an appearance in WWE as Kristen.

Fans may remember the 28-year-old teaming with Elektra Lopez (then known as Karissa) to take on The IIconics on the April 9, 2019 episode of SmackDown.

In the same interview, Kris Statlander questioned why WWE's makeup department decided to send her out without any eyebrows:

"I want to tell her to ask why didn't the make-up people give me eyebrows? They just didn't want me to have eyebrows that day. That's what I want to know. I'll tell you this: she was [...] she was ready to go, [but] where are my eyebrows? Why didn't you give me any eyebrows? You tied tassels into my hair, but you didn't give me eyebrows."

It was a short stint for Statlander in the Stamford-based promotion as she and Karissa were handily defeated by Billie Kay and Peyton Royce in just over three minutes.
