Ricochet has officially arrived in AEW. The veteran pro wrestler debuted at All In less than one month ago and has made his Dynamite debut. While the inaugural WWE Speed Champion is focused on his All Elite career, he just revealed another major plan for the future.
The Highlight Of The Night debuted as a surprise entrant in the Casino Gauntlet at All In, which brought on significant criticism and praise. He then made his singles debut on the following Dynamite, defeating Kyle Fletcher. The former Prince Puma signing with AEW means he can potentially return to NJPW, or debut for CMLL, due to their working relationships with Tony Khan.
Ricochet wrestled around 120 matches for New Japan in the past and won the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in 2014. The 21-year industry veteran recently spoke with the Battleground Podcast and was asked if he'd like to compete in NJPW's most prestigious tournament - the G1 Climax, which was won by Zack Sabre Jr. this year.
"Yeah, absolutely. I already won the Best of the Super Juniors, so I feel like now I should upgrade my goals to the G1, for sure. And actually, obviously there's still a lot of things in New Japan that I didn't get to accomplish, that I still plan on accomplishing," he said. [From 10:42 to 11:07]
Ricochet's NJPW success includes three reigns as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion and a three as NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He also teamed with Matt Sydal to win the Super Junior Tag League tournament in 2015.
Ricochet announced for AEW Dynamite
Ricochet will wrestle his second AEW singles match on tonight's Dynamite. The episode will air live from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
The One And Only has been announced for a match against ROH World Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara. This is Sammy's first Dynamite match since his win over Ricky Starks on January 10.
Dynamite will mark the second singles bout between the two as the former WWE Superstar defeated the AEW Original in February 2017 at a WrestleCircus event. Three months later at The Crash in Mexico, the former Ric O'Shea and Flip Gordon defeated Sammy and Mr. 450.
