Despite his family ties with WWE, Shane McMahon was heavily rumored to be AEW-bound after his meeting with Tony Khan last year. The 55-year-old has now addressed the topic of him potentially joining the Jacksonville-based company.
After conjecture began to circulate in pro-wrestling spaces of Shane-O-Mac supposedly being interested in appearing on All Elite Wrestling, the former WWE executive made headlines when a photograph of his private meeting with Tony Khan in July 2024 found its way to social media. The speculations gained more strength after The Young Bucks posted a picture with The Prodigal Son on Instagram a couple of months later.
Earlier this year, reports emerged suggesting that McMahon had supposedly expressed his interest in running AEW to Tony Khan despite his lack of product knowledge. Furthermore, the All Elite Wrestling Creative Head did not follow up with Shane after their meeting, a fact that the latter reportedly did not take personally. The Crown Prince of WWE had previously issued a statement on his conversation with TK, and has now discussed the possibility of going All Elite during an interview with TMZ.
Upon being asked whether there was a chance of him joining AEW, Shane McMahon responded:
“Had a meeting with AEW and wished them continued success. But it’s not WWE, it’s not the company that I helped build. But you never know what’s going to happen in this business.” [H/T - Inside The Ropes]
It remains to be seen if McMahon will ever be featured on All Elite Wrestling programming.
