AEW star Tay Melo recently shared her struggle with training while being away from the ring for more than a year. Her most recent match in the Jacksonville-based promotion saw her team up with Anna Jay to compete against Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale in a losing effort.

The 28-year-old star made her AEW debut in 2020 and has been a top star since then. She then joined forces with Jay and both performers later established themselves as a single competitor.

In mid-2022, Tay Melo, along with fellow AEW star and husband, Sammy Guevara, turned heel after joining the Jericho Appreciation Society and garnered a lot of heat. However, their storyline got scrapped as Melo went on a hiatus due to her pregnancy. Tay gave birth to a daughter in November 2023.

She recently posted on social media about the difficulties she had to go through to make her way back to in-ring competition. Melo took to X/Twitter to share about training after such a long hiatus from the squared circle. She also wrote about being frustrated and emotional. Nevertheless, she mentioned that she would get stronger not only for herself but also for her daughter.

"So happy to be able to be in the ring again. With a lot of patience I’ll get ready to be back, it’s a whole new body & I still feel so [weak] inside.. I got frustrated a couple times, had to hold my tears and keep going. My body was my baby’s home for 40 weeks and now I’ll get stronger not just for me but for her too. It’s a long way to go but I’m closer than yesterday," Tay Melo shared.
