"They still don’t know what they’re doing" - Eric Bischoff explains why AEW Collision will fail

Is Eric Bischoff seeing something many fans are missing?

AEW recently announced another weekly show that will air on Saturdays from June 2023. However, Eric Bischoff isn't optimistic about the show's future and recently explained why.

Collision has already drawn criticism from Bischoff since the logo is inspired by WCW Nitro Monday's 1990s logo. The veteran has stated that this could lead to sky-high expectations from the show going forward. However, he explained another reason why the program might fail.

During the recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff claimed he wouldn't take up the responsibility of a second show with as many issues as AEW currently has. Additionally, he believes the recent trouble with CM Punk indicates the new show's future.

"What we’ve seen in the last couple of days with this, I can only refer to it as a clown car competition regarding CM Punk, and the litany of the mistakes, profound ones too, that have been made that has created this situation tells me that internally, just as a business operation, they still don’t know what they’re doing.” (H/T: Inside The Ropes)

According to reports, All Elite Wreslting's legal team has sent a notice to CM Punk for allegedly refusing to appear at Collision after the promotion went back on prior agreements surrounding Ace Steel's rehiring.

Eric Bischoff believes that AEW is making the same mistakes he made with WCW

AEW has been compared to WCW since its inception for various reasons. Many have claimed that Khan's promotion will eventually be bought by WWE like WCW, especially if the company's president makes the same mistakes.

During the same episode, Bischoff recalled Tony Khan's statements that he'd repeat the mistakes WCW once made and pointed out that Khan is, in fact, going down the same path.

“I’m not gonna go into the litany of mistakes that have been made and continue to be made by Tony that are significant, and many of them are similar to the mistakes that I made. He’s making the same ones. (H/T: Inside The Ropes)

Only time will tell if AEW will end up as WCW did. The new Collision show has been rumored to start a soft brand split, leading many to hope that this could ultimately be how Tony Khan preserves the promotion in the long run.
