Over the past few weeks, reports of multiple stars' WWE contract expiration have surfaced. With a top talent's contract reportedly set to expire soon, many fans believe that AEW could sign the latter.

Chad Gable is currently involved in an important feud for the Intercontinental Championship and is set to challenge Sami Zayn for the title at Clash at the Castle in Scotland. However, the former Tag Team Champion's contract with the company is set to expire in a few days.

In a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that many AEW officials are pushing Tony Khan to make an offer to Chad Gable. Dave Meltzer further revealed that WWE has made an 'excellent' offer to Gable to stay with the promotion.

"AEW have interest in signing Chad Gable and has key people in the company pushing him to Tony Khan. WWE have made an ‘excellent’ offer to keep Gable on the roster," the report noted.

The fans reacted to Dave Meltzer's report and shared their excitement about Chad Gable potentially signing with All Elite Wrestling claiming that it might be as big as CM Punk's arrival in 2021.

Meanwhile, some other fans stated that Chad Gable has quietly resigned and will never leave the WWE.

"He’s in a blazing hot storyline right now. He’s not leaving. But you knew there would be outside interest," tweeted a fan.
"There’s 0 chance that he leaves. They can’t afford to afford to lose a talent like Gable. Plus with the current storyline going on, it’s a no brainer to offer him a big contract," another fan stated.
"I don't think they'd be giving Gable this big story if they didn't count on him re-signing," a fan explained.

A former writer believes Chad Gable could have been released from the WWE during his Shorty G gimmick

Chad Gable fell victim to an unfortunate character change in 2019 when the promotion changed his name to Shorty G. The gimmick stayed till 2020 before he reverted to his previous character and created the Alpha Academy with Otis.

Former head writer Brian Gewirtz praised Chad Gable's recent work in the WWE on the Cheap Heat podcast and claimed that Gable would have been fired if he stayed as Shorty G.

"It could've easily been, 'No, thanks!' We're sticking with Shorty G. We're going to see this out till the end, and then you see in a very small section of the WWE website [Shorty G is released], and who knows what could've happened, but to Chad's credit, he stuck through it. He stuck through that phase, and he never stopped working. He's earned this push or the amount of television time that he's been getting," Gewirtz said. [From 56:11 to 56:42]

Chad Gable is set to face Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at Clash at the Castle. It will be interesting to see if Gable walks out as champion in Scotland.
