Tony Khan finally got to addressing MJF's AEW status during the media scrum following their Dynasty pay-per-view. He was asked when the former world champion may be seen again in AEW.

Friedman has not been seen in AEW since Worlds End, which saw him become a victim of The Undisputed Kingdom, and what would be the end of The Devil storyline. Since then, he has apparently taken some time off and has been said to be nursing some injuries he has been dealing with.

During the media scrum, some members of the media wanted to have an update regarding his status. Tony Khan did not confirm or deny anything, but he also wished to see him sooner or later. He believed that having Friedman back would be a huge boost to the company.

"Well, yes, uhh MJF, one of the biggest stars in AEW, we haven't seen him in recent months, and I would love to get MJF back here soon. Sooner or later, or like really soon, you know, we've got so many great things happening and I think that would be really added if he's one of our great wrestlers and we've had great things happening in AEW lately, you know." To this day, there has been no confirmation on his contract status, but the belief has been that he has quietly re-signed with AEW.
