Tony Khan has established AEW as a prominent promotion in professional wrestling. A veteran journalist recently advised him to make a significant change to the product.
In a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed the upcoming edition of Collision, which would be combined with Dynamite as a four-hour special titled Summer Blockbuster. He wrote that while WWE consistently delivered three-hour successful events, it led to audience fatigue. Meltzer felt that long programs might not be the best approach.
The veteran journalist was aware that All Elite Wrestling's broadcast partner, Warner Bros. Discovery, was seeking the most suitable timeslot for Collision. He advised the company's officials to pick 8-10 pm on Thursdays to avoid competition from other major sporting events and programs.
"That said, WBD is looking for what time slot is best for Collision permanently. With WWE and other sports so prevalent, Saturday night isn't it. I think Thursday night at 8-10 p.m. is better than Wednesday from 10-midnight, even though Wednesday has the perfect lead-in of TV main event." [H/T: WrestlingInc.]
A major accusation was made against Tony Khan ahead of AEW Summer Blockbuster
As All Elite Wrestling prepares to produce another four-hour special, similar to last week's Fyter Fest, a major accusation against Tony Khan has surfaced online. Popular singer and songwriter Malover Troye has claimed that Khan and his company used Mina Shirakawa's original theme song without his permission. Troye wants appropriate action to be taken against the company.
“@TonyKhan A song I Wrote was used as Mina Shirakawa’s AEW entrance theme (May 14th) without my permission. A 3rd party sold it to AEW after removing my vocals + pressuring me to sign away all rights. I refused it. It aired anyway. Please make this right!” [H/T: ITR Wrestling]
Despite the minor hiccup, All Elite Wrestling is set to present many major matches and segments at Summer Blockbuster.
