AEW is gearing up to produce another four-hour special event, Summer Blockbuster, after their successful Fyter Fest show last week. Just days before, a prominent figure in the music industry made a major accusation against the company.
The name in question is a top singer and songwriter, Malover Troye. During an edition of Dynamite last month, Mina Shirakawa made her official debut with a new theme song. However, at the end of the bout, it was changed to her original theme song after Tony Khan acknowledged the fan backlash in the arena and on social media.
Malover Troye had called out Khan in mid-May via his X (fka Twitter) handle, which was highlighted recently. In his tweet, he stated that his song was played as Shirakawa's entrance theme on All Elite Wrestling without his permission. He also added that a third party pressured him to sell the rights and demanded some action regarding Khan and his promotion using it.
“@TonyKhan A song I Wrote was used as Mina Shirakawa’s AEW entrance theme (May 14th) without my permission. A 3rd party sold it to AEW after removing my vocals + pressuring me to sign away all rights. I refused it. It aired anyway. Please make this right!” (H/T: ITR Wrestling)
Mina Shirakawa had a major title match upon her AEW debut
Mina Shirakawa had made multiple appearances in AEW before officially signing with the promotion. She pinned "Timeless" Toni Storm in a Women's World Championship Eliminator Four-Way Match one week after making her debut.
This earned the popular star a title shot against the Hollywood Starlet for the Women's World Championship at the Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View. It was a spectacular showdown, and Shirakawa's performance was highly praised despite her failure to beat Storm for the title. Moreover, she and Toni Storm even shared a non-PG moment after the match.
With Mina Shirakawa now an integral part of All Elite Wrestling, it remains to be seen if Tony Khan will resolve the Malover Troye situation and if she will be able to use that theme song in the promotion going forward.
