AEW CEO Tony Khan was not a fan of Eddie Kingston's pitch to use a controversial spot against Chris Jericho during his rivalry. The Mad King is currently out of action after injuring his meniscus and ACL in May.
In the late 1980s, the legendary Terry Funk and Ric Flair had a heated rivalry and during their match at Clash of Champions VIII, Funk suffocated Flair by putting a plastic bag over his head. AEW star Eddie Kingston recently revealed that he wanted to recreate the spot during his feud with Chris Jericho a couple of years ago.
In an interview with Phil Schneider for The Ringer, Eddie Kingston revealed that Tony Khan refused the 'plastic bag' spot during the rivalry.
“Trust me, I know how Turner is scared about that because I’ve asked about the plastic bag several times. It was always walking in and Tony [Khan] going, ‘We’re not doing the plastic bag.'" [H/T:PostWrestling]
Tony Khan recently made a bold claim about a former WWE star's career in AEW
The AEW CEO always looks to get popular WWE stars to All Elite Wrestling and one of the biggest signings of 2023 was Adam Copeland (fka Edge). The Rated R Superstar has competed in several great matchups ever since his arrival and is a former two-time TNT Champion.
In an interview with Sportsgrid, Tony Khan claimed that Adam Copeland's All Elite Wrestling run is the 'greatest' of his entire career.
"[Copeland] was the TNT Champion, the face of our other network. He arguably has been on the greatest run of his entire legendary career, which is really saying something because he's had so many great matches, so many great runs. What he's been doing in AEW is some of the best stuff. I'm really proud of that. He was on this amazing run. Unfortunately, he got injured, and he had to vacate the TNT Title, but we've had so many great free agents come in just in the past year." [H/T: Sportsgrid]
Adam Copeland is currently out of action due to a broken tibia. The veteran has confirmed that he'll miss the upcoming All In PPV event. We will have to wait and see when Copeland returns to action.
