Veteran wrestler Bin Hamin recently took potshots at former world champion CM Punk, claiming that The Second City Saint had a habit of mistreating co-workers backstage.
Bin Hamin performed in Ohio Valley Wrestling for a handful of matches in 2009 and 2015. He has wrestled in several wrestling franchises since 2019, including 2CW, Blitz Masked Confusion, Dynasty, and others. The two have never been in the ring together.
During a recent conversation with Rene Dupree on Cafe de Rene, Hamin touched upon the CM Punk vs. Jack Perry saga, which became the talk of the wrestling world last year.
Punk's stint in the Jacksonville-based company was mired with physical altercations. The former WWE Champion got embroiled in a backstage skirmish with The Elite in 2022. But it was his altercation with Jack Perry at the All In pay-per-view last year, which led to his exit from the company.
The latest twist in the story came when Punk spoke about the 2023 skirmish in an interview, and AEW President Tony Khan decided to release the footage of the same on live TV.
Speaking to Rene Dupree, Hamin claimed that he had seen The Voice of The Voice mistreat young talents and staff backstage at OVW.
"I am not putting over Jungle Boy. I think there's a lot of, 'I think I am over' attitude there that got under Punk's skin. But I have also seen it firsthand, multiple times. Phil [CM Punk's real name] does things that I don't think are how a man should act or how I was brought up. And its spot-picking and big-leaguing guys at OVW that were designated under or non-contract, and its how you treat those people when nobody's looking that speaks volumes about your true character, and I have seen him do things on multiple occasions that are just not inside my DNA to do that. So, did he ever disrespect me? No, not to my face, because I was half-a** with the cool kids. But those weren't in that, and the way I saw him treat them, I don't have a lot of respect for the guy," he said. [1:20 to 2:50]
Before CM Punk made his main roster debut in WWE, The Straight Edge Superstar signed with Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2005, which was then the developmental territory of the Stamford-based company. He also held the OVW Television Championship and the OVW Heavyweight Championship during his stint.
Veteran wrestler accused AEW of preferential treatment for CM Punk
In the same interview, Bin Hamin spoke about how he thought AEW gave preferential treatment to CM Punk.
"When I see him go to Gorilla, I don't care if Jack Perry's an a****le or no; I don't know, but in this business, that's not where you pick your spot to cause some s***t at the biggest show of the year. That shows to me the guy hasn't grown up at all; he still got to do what he wants, and even after Brawl Out, what did they do? They [AEW top brass] didn't correct the situation. They gave him his own show [Collision] to keep him separated, so that reinforces the behavior, that he can do whatever he wants," he said. [2:22 - 2:52]
Following his infamous exit from AEW, CM Punk returned to the Stamford-based promotion at the Survivor Series Premier Live Event last year. The former champion is currently locked in a red-hot feud with Drew McIntyre. Jack Perry, on the other hand, made a return to AEW TV on the recent Dynasty PPV.
