Wrestling fans are reacting to a 6 ft 2 in star teasing a possible WWE comeback after four years. The talent in question is Matt Cardona.

The Indy God has been out of action since April after tearing his pectoral muscle. He underwent surgery last month and revealed to his fans that he was on the path to recovery.

Cardona stirred some discussions on social media again after sharing an interesting post on X/Twitter:

"Never Say Never," he wrote.

Fans expressed their reactions to the former WWE Intercontinental Champion's tweet. Several users speculated that Cardona's post could be a tease for a WWE return and voiced their approval of The Long Island Iced-Z appearing in the Triple H-led promotion.

Another user suggested that the former Zack Ryder would be a good fit for The Judgment Day.

Matt Cardona broke out as a superstar in WWE, building a substantial fanbase for his in-ring skills and on-screen character work. Despite finding some success in the singles and tag team division, the former US Champion was released in 2020 after a 15-year tenure.

After that, Cardona re-invented himself in the independent scene, performing in promotions such as IMPACT, MLW, NWA, and GCW. The Deathmatch King has also made several appearances in AEW and unsuccessfully challenged his former mentor, Adam Copeland, for his TNT Championship on the March 30, 2024, episode of Collision.

Ex-WWE star Matt Cardona claims that his recent injury was life-threatening

During an interview with Bill Pritchard, Matt Cardona provided some insight into his recent injury.

The 39-year-old star pointed out that while there was never a good time for an athlete to suffer an injury, his one happened at an unfortunate time, as he had just released a video highlighting his accomplishments since being released by the Stamford-based promotion in 2020.

Cardona added that he waited for the video to pick up around a million views before revealing the update on his health.

“Obviously, there’s no good time to get injured in wrestling, I guess in any sport, but this is certainly not a good time. I was just hyping up, and I put out this video, four years since I’ve been released from WWE, all the things I’ve done, and then boom, same day, I knew my pec’s torn. But I wasn’t gonna say it that day. I let the video get a million or so views, and then I said, 'oh, by the way, tore my pec,'" he said.

He had posted that he suffered "a life-threatening injury," but he would be back and even claimed to be the General Manager of GCW.

"I suffered a life threatening injury BUT I WILL BE BACK!!!" he wrote on X.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Matt Cardona and whether he will return to his old stomping grounds.
