WWE Backlash featured Rhea Ripley retaining her Smackdown Women's Championship against Zelina Vega. However, according to Hall of Famers Bully Ray and Mark Henry, it was a missed opportunity.

At WWE Backlash in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Zelina Vega, who is of Puerto Rican descent, finally had her chance at glory. She faced The Nightmare in an attempt to win the SmackDown Women's Title but came out short. Despite the loss, the audience gave her a standing ovation, which moved her to tears.

During a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, both men discussed the match, and Bully Ray stated that Zelina Vega might not be a better wrestler than Rhea Ripley, but it was the perfect opportunity for her to win the championship.

“There are certain times in this business you do things for other reasons beyond just the business. I don’t think Zelina is a better wrestler than Rhea, but if there was ever a moment for Rhea to slip on a banana peel and for [Zelina] to get the one-two-three, it was that night in Puerto Rico, just so we could see that championship around her waist with her family coming in the ring [and] looking up at dad in the heavens," Bully said.

Furthermore, he felt that it would have been the perfect opportunity to put the title on her for a few days.

"Why not put that championship on her for two days? Why not get her over to the 9/11 memorial to take some pictures … at her dad’s final resting place that she can have forever and ever?” [H/T - Wrestling Inc.]

Despite the loss, Vega's emotional performance was inspiring, and fans are eager to see what the future holds for the former women's tag team champion.
