Some details regarding a WWE veteran's status have surfaced, explaining why he was able to compete on AEW despite current arrangements with the Stamford-based promotion. The veteran in question would be Rob Van Dam.

Despite being known as a WWE Hall of Famer, RVD shockingly made his debut on the Tony Khan-led promotion last year. He has competed in a total of six matches for the company, sharing the ring with Jack Perry, Hook, Swerve Strickland, 'Hangman' Adam Page, and Samoa Joe.

It has been reported by Fightul Select that Rob Van Dam, who is a six-time Intercontinental Champion has had a WWE Legends deal all this time. He mentioned how he only recently acknowledged signing one as he enjoyed the compliments from the fans. It was also mentioned how his appearances on AEW were only one-shot deals, hence why he has been able to briefly work these dates.

Rob Van Dam appeared on WWE NXT last night

In what was his first appearance on a major show following his run with AEW, RVD was in attendance for the edition of NXT. The latest episode of the show saw some ECW icons appear and get involved with some of the young talent on the brand.

He first appeared during a backstage segment with Kelani Jordan and they had a brief interaction which included him giving her some advice and affirmation ahead of her match later that night. After this, the veteran was suddenly attacked by Wes Lee.

Later in the night during Lee's match against Je'Von Evans, the multi-time Intercontinental Champion interrupted the match to seek retribution on his assailant. Wes Lee attempted to use a steel chair on Evans, but with the Hall of Famer's help, this did not go through.

It is safe to assume this could not be the last time we'll see RVD in WWE. With him on a Legends deal, this opens up chances for him to appear anytime. It remains to be seen if this is the last of him and Wes Lee, or whether they'll cross paths in the ring sometime soon.
