AEW star Christian Cage recently attempted to file a trademark of his old WWE 'Captian Charisma' nickname. However, the Stamford-based promotion has rejected it. Christian left the company in 2021 to sign with All Elite Wrestling.

The former AEW TNT Champion made a name for himself as a singles star after breaking his tag team with Edge (Adam Copeland) in WWE. Christian adopted the 'Captain Charisma' nickname in the promotion and started calling his fans 'peeps.' The character got over with the crowd and also garnered two World Heavyweight Championship reigns for Christian in 2011.

According to a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former TNT Champion tried filing a trademark for Captian Charisma but WWE opposed it:

"Christian Cage tried to trademark the term ‘Captain Charisma’ and was opposed by WWE," - WON.

Tony Khan names former WWE star Christian Cage as the MVP of AEW

Christian Cage signed with AEW in 2021 and the veteran has proven to be one of the most successful signings of Tony Khan. The Patriarchy leader currently holds the opportunity to cash in on World Champion Jon Moxley and many believe that Cage will soon hold the World Title in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

During the Double or Nothing media call earlier this year, Tony Khan called Christian Cage the MVP of All Elite Wrestling television. He appreciated Christian's contributions to the promotion and claimed that he was doing the best work of his career in All Elite Wrestling:

"Christian Cage, who has been, in my opinion, an MVP of AEW television over the past year. What Christian Cage has done for the company is unbelievable. I absolutely believed that was what we were gonna get when we signed him, and I think it’s been proven right. I think Christian Cage is one of the best signings we’ve ever made in AEW. All the hype around his signing was very justified because he’s one of the greatest wrestlers in the world, and he’s done the best work of his career in AEW.” (H/T Yahoo)

We will have to wait and see if All Elite Wrestling crowns Christian Cage as the World Champion in the upcoming months.
