AEW star Cope has been absent from television programming for a while. Amid his status, it was rumored that he would work with a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, who has been his close associate for years. However, recent events suggest that Tony Khan might postpone that glorious reunion.

The star, who is also a top AEW star, is Christian Cage. Sean Ross Sapp was asked on Fightful's The Hump about Cope and Christian Cage's speculated reunion and if it was delayed for AEW's other major event, All Out. The show is set to take place in their home country, i.e., Toronto, Canada, on September 20, 2025, at the Scotiabank Arena.

He stated that after speaking to internal sources, he felt that there were issues regarding Cage leaving his current faction, The Patriarchy, and AEW wanted him to continue as a heel in the storyline. This came after he had earlier stated that another conversation with them gave a strong impression that Cope and Christian Cage were set to reunite to battle FTR at the upcoming All In Texas event.

“People I talked to hinted to me there were some hiccups in relation to turning Christian babyface or getting him out of the Patriarchy. Seems like he wanted to do that for a little bit longer. They had planned for Cope and Christian against FTR at All In." [H/T: Ringside News]

With AEW All In Texas only six weeks away, and in light of these reports, it seems clear that Tony Khan would not book the 'Edge and Christian' reunion at the grand spectacle. However, there is still a possibility of them teaming up in the future, with seeds planted at All In.

Cope could make his return at the show to get revenge on FTR and get some backup from Captain Charisma, which would surely lead to a thunderous pop. With All Out taking place in Canada, Khan might be thinking of a bigger impact by booking them in a tag team match in front of their home crowd.

AEW star Cope has been on a hiatus for a few months

Adam Copeland was last seen teaming up with his real-life close allies, FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), on AEW television. The Rated-R Superstar and the decorated tag team teamed up for a Trios match at the 2025 Dynasty Pay-Per-View.

They lost the bout against the Death Riders faction (consisting of Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta). Following that, FTR turned on their friend and laid a huge beatdown on the 11-time World Champion. Since that night, he has not appeared on TV.

With All In Texas coming up, All Elite Wrestling could use the star power of the WWE Hall of Famer for their premier event. It remains to be seen whether he will be utilized for the grand spectacle.
