WWE and AEW are two of the biggest wrestling promotions in the USA and it goes without saying, that as a result of this, they are also fierce competitors. Over the years, many names have left the Triple H-led company and gone to Jacksonville. Furthermore, many former All Elite Wrestling stars are currently signed to the Stamford-based company. These include Ethan Page, Lexis King, CM Punk, and more.

It is heavily rumored that Triple H's next high-profile signings are going former AEW World Tag Team Champions, Lucha Brothers. The duo consists of real-life brothers Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fénix. The latter is also a former AEW International Champion. Both wrestlers are major assets for Tony Khan.

Interestingly, the Cerebral Assassin might have to give up on singing Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fénix, at least for the time being.

AEW is reportedly adding injury time to Rey Fénix's contract

For the past few months, there were strong speculations that Lucha Brothers were WWE-bound after their contracts with All Elite Wrestling expired. However, as per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tony Khan has no intention of letting Fénix join the rival promotion so easily.

All Elite Wrestling is reportedly adding injury time to the former AEW International Champion's contract. By doing so, the 33-year-old will be forced to stay in the promotion for almost a year. Furthermore, reports suggest that the company's founder offered the brothers lucrative deals to extend their contracts, however, they chose not to sign them.

It makes more sense for Triple H to sign Penta and Fenix as a duo. Since the latter is bound to his contract, the two can't become WWE Superstars anytime soon. This might make the former WWF/WWE Champion drop interest in signing them, at least for the time being.

One year may hinder Triple H's creative plans

It is often the case with Triple H and the new WWE creative team that he plans well ahead of time for his stars. The creative direction for most of his stories is planned in coordination with the creative team and while they do change, The Game sticks to his original plans most of the time.

It seems that the Chief Content Officer may have some plan in mind for the Lucha Brothers and has already established the direction in which he wants to take them. However, his plans may be hindered if he has to wait another year to get the former tag team champions to the promotion.

A year is a long time in wrestling and a lot of things can change. The direction which may be suited to Penta and Fenix now, may not be the case in another 12 months. Therefore, Triple H may decide to not pursue the luchadors for now and could cool off on his interest.

Hopefully in the next few days, we will learn what the future holds for the Lucha Brothers.
