Brandon Silvers of the Seattle Dragons warms up before the XFL game against the DC Defenders

What are the new teams in XFL 2023?

Since the two spring conferences will be holding games throughout the NFL offseason, football fans won't have to worry about games to see now that the 2022 NFL season is over. The USFL's second season kicks off in April, and the resurrected XFL is returning after a two-year absence. The league will begin this Saturday, Feb. 18.

The revived XFL campaign will begin on Saturday, beginning with a 43-game schedule culminating in the May championship game.

Former NFL players set to play in the XFL this weekend

There are 40 matchups in the regular season, two in the postseason, and one final game that will decide the champion.

Compared with the 2020 season, three additional cities — San Antonio, Orlando, and Las Vegas — will host XFL teams. Following the COVID-19 outbreak, which prompted the XFL to halt activities and declare bankruptcy, those cities are now joining Arlington, Houston, D.C., Seattle, St. Louis, Texas, and Washington as host cities.

What is the XFL about?

Vince McMahon established the XFL, a professional American football organization, in 2018. It was modeled after a tournament that bore the same title in 2001.

Before its demise in March 2020 after five weeks, the XFL had planned to conduct 10 regular-season games for each team and postseason games in 2020.

The XFL has a reputation for redefining football with unconventional rule modifications throughout its first two seasons in 2001 and 2020. Kickoffs, points awarded after touchdowns, and double-forward throws are a few variations from NFL football.

The 10 regular-season games that the eight XFL teams are scheduled to play will be followed by two rounds of postseason action. Each contest will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, or FX. Fans will also get the chance to stream on ESPN+.
