WWE RAW- 5 Reasons why The Street Profits rescued Kevin Owens from Seth Rollins & his faction

This week's episode of RAW was one of the weakest efforts of the company in recent times, I felt. It was almost as if Paul Heyman and co. decided to phone it in, and save all the good stuff for next week's show.

I suppose one will have to look at the viewership numbers for this week's episode to surmise if the show was a hit or a flop. But the decision that was a hit with the audience in attendance was to have The Street Profits attack Seth Rollins and his crew when they were brutalizing a hapless Kevin Owens following the main event match.

Why has WWE decided to involve The Street Profits in this segment? Let me try and answer this question with 5 reasons, for your reading pleasure, folks.

#5 To freshen up the main event picture

The one thing WWE does not want at any cost is to have a repeat of the situation on SmackDown where Roman Reigns and Baron Corbin are in the main event picture, week after week. Even though the two men have incredible chemistry and they work great with one another, the audience always wants something fresh. You can only watch something good so many times.

And there was a chance of the same thing happening on WWE RAW as well, with Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and The Viking Raiders against Seth Rollins' faction dominating the main event scene. With The Street Profits entering the picture, the dynamics change quite significantly.

I wonder which team will dethrone Seth Rollins and Murphy, to be quite honest. I wonder if WWE will take a chance with the Street Profits in Saudi Arabia later this month.

#4 To give The Street Profits the Rollins rub

Not very surprisingly after The Street Profits came to Kevin Owens' aid, and the babyfaces cleared out the ring to send the heels packing, a match was made for WWE Super ShowDown. This is a huge development as The Street Profits will take on Seth Rollins and Murphy for the RAW Tag Team Championships.

Rollins is probably the biggest heel in the company after Brock Lesnar and anyone who works with him is immediately elevated into the main event picture. We saw this with Murphy, who lost a bunch of matches to Aleister Black but while Black wallows in the mid-card, Murphy is in the main event.

The Street Profits will rise a rank or two, even if they were to lose the match at WWE Super ShowDown, and this is a great thing because they deserve the smoke. They, like so many others in the WWE roster, are extremely talented and all they need is an opportunity to showcase how good they can be, when the spotlight shines on them.

#3 More exciting team than The Viking Raiders

I mean no disrespect to Erik and Ivar when I say this, but their gimmick is far too based in fantasy to connect with the WWE Universe. The two men are incredible performers, but as we have seen in the past unless one has a very strong connection with the WWE Universe, no amount of in-ring skills will honestly get you over.

The Street Profits speak the language of the streets, while The Viking Raiders speak in the manner that a tag team from the 80s would. This is not a bad thing at all, but it is clear as day who the more popular team is among the two and who should, therefore, be involved in the tag title picture.

And this does not necessarily mean that The Viking Raiders will have nothing to do. Maybe they could mix it up with The OC, who made quite a triumphant return to RAW on this week's show.

Maybe they could even take on The AOP in a non-title feud, going forward. Saving Kevin Owens on this week's show may have set one or more of these plotlines in motion.

#2 To end the show on a positive note after the whole Randy Orton massacre

There is a lot of buzz and speculation with regard to whether Matt Hardy will be headed to AEW after he has wrapped up with WWE in his current and uneventful run. Whether or not that is indeed true remains to be seen, but you can check out what Sportskeeda's finest- Tom Colohue and Korey Gunz have to say in the video that I have linked above. Also, let me know in the comments if you think that Matt Hardy should join The Dark Order.

The show this week began with a brutal and grisly segment where Randy Orton went a little too far with Matt Hardy, it seemed like. For RAW to have concluded with Kevin Owens also getting a similar beatdown would have made many fans upset. The Street Profits saved us from such a situation.

Although, I have to admit that I was a little curious to know what a crucifiction in a WWE context would have actually meant.

#1 A chance for a great comedic trio to emerge on RAW

Every week, we get to learn more and more about The Street Profits and we realize how naturally funny the two men are. And anyone who's watched WWE for any length of time knows that Kevin Owens is one of the funniest men not merely in wrestling but in the world.

The upsetting thing is that we won't see another pairing of Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens for a while because Le Champion is doing his own thing in All Elite Wrestling. But a babyface Kevin Owens and The Street Profits could certainly set the screen ablaze with their comedic prowess.

And who knows? They have amazing fodder for their skits and backstage segments already with the whole sermon and messiah thing, and this could lead to some very amusing moments on WWE television (while it always runs the risk of offending some people with the religious undertone, WWE isn't shying away from embracing the storyline at all).

Is this a trio you would potentially like to see?
