Chainsaw Man chapter 185 recap
Chainsaw Man chapter 185 began with the Aging Devil revealing that its world had no exit. Likewise, every tree in it was originally a human who spent up to two thousand years trying to escape before arriving at “some sort of answer” and turning into trees. Aging clarified that the tree transformations weren’t part of its power. Likewise, this meant it was an innate mechanism to human life in-series, happening “when they reach the culmination of thought.”
Aging added that humans could discover unseen concepts if they lived longer, and that it wants them to even if it comes at a cost, seemingly explaining its motivations. It was then revealed that Aging was with Tadashi Hasegawa and Public Safety at the location of Fumiko’s meeting with government officials. Denji then explained his plan at Aging’s request, which was to run and make himself hungry since his stomach was in the real world.
Asa then gave Denji the axe she made out of the Bitterness Devil’s tooth and a stick. Denji then began attacking one of the trees, even after being told by the Devil Hunter that it was a person. Denji eventually caused its intestines and blood to shoot out, eating them before pulling his ripcord. This let Pochita fully heal in the real world, setting up a fight with Pochita and Aging where Hasegawa, Aging, and presumably Fumiko Mifune and the others were.
What to expect from Chainsaw Man chapter 186 (speculative)
As has been typical of mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto during Part 2, it seems the mangaka is taking a one-week break just before a massive fight based on current events. Likewise, Chainsaw Man chapter 186 should open up immediately on Aging and Pochita’s fight, which Fumiko Mifune and Public Safety will likely involve themselves in.
However, it’s unlikely that the entire chapter will be nothing but fights, with Denji and Asa still needing to actually escape from the Aging Devil’s world. This should prompt Denji to explain that he wants Pochita to kill and eat the Aging Devil, in turn giving Denji the chance to throw it up in its own world and hold it hostage later on.
