Main Characters
Light Yagami
He is the main protagonist of the Death Note series and a very intelligent young teen who, after obtaining the Death Note, wants to kill every criminal.
2. L
He goes by the name L to hide his identity, but his real name is L Lawliet. He was known as the world's greatest detective. He almost revealed that Light Yagami is Kira, who killed criminals in Japan.
3. Ryuk
He is the Shinigami who drops his Death Note to have fun, which Light Yagami finds.
4. Misa Amane
She was a popular Japanese pop star who fell in love with Light because he killed Misa’s parents’ murderer.
5. Rem
She was another Shinigami whose Death Note was picked up by Misa. Later, when she fell in love with Misa, Light used her to kill L, which made her sacrifice her life.
6. Near
His real name is Nate River, and he is another young detective who succeeded L after his death. He is the one who revealed that Light is Kira and the real mastermind behind the criminals’ deaths.
7. Mello
He and Nate River succeeded in revealing Light as Kira, but Mello died in the end. He was also associated with the Mafia group that wanted to kill Kira.
8. Soichiro Yagami
He is Light Yagami’s father who worked as a detective superintendent of Japan’s National Police Agency. At the end of the series, when he retrieved the Death Note, he used Shinigami Eye to see if his son was Kira or not.
9. Naomi Misora
She is one of the closest people before L, Mello, and Near find out the Light is Kira. Light found out her name and wrote it on the Death Note.
