On September 5, 2024, Adult Swim released the official trailer for the Uzumaki anime series a few days before its premiere on September 28, 2024. The trailer also revealed the other voice actors in action.
Uzumaki anime is based on a manga series written and illustrated by Junji Ito, considered by the majority of the fandom as the king of horror manga. Some other famous works of the author include Tomie and Gyo, and some compiled story volumes like Smashed, Shiver, and many others.

The official trailer for the Uzumaki anime began with the protagonist walking through their town. The trailer then showcased the female protagonist encountering spirals in her daily life, be it from small cyclones or a student in her class transforming into a snail.
The trailer also showcased the male protagonist's father's obsession with spirals. Then, it showcased one of the most viral scenes from the manga, where the friend of the female protagonist revealed her face, which was being consumed by a spiral. The trailer ended with the protagonists escaping their village as the male protagonist uttered, "Before it's too late."
The series will consist of four episodes and will aired on Adult Swim's Toonami TV channel on September 28, 2024. The series will be streamed on the streaming service Max the next day.
The main protagonist, Shuuichi Saitou, will be voiced by Shinichiro Miki (Urahara from Bleach), and Kirie Goshima will be played by Uki Satake (Tsubomi from Mob Psycho 100). The source material's author, Junji Ito, will also voice one of the characters from this anime adaptation. However, that character is still unannounced.
Uzumaki anime synopsis
The anime series is a horror-supernatural anime series telling the tale of Kirie and Shuuichi, the protagonists, as the latter is fed up with the strange environment of their village, the Kurouzu-cho.
Witnessing his father's obsession with spirals worsening by the day, Shuuichci recommends that Kirei leave the village as soon as possible. She keeps thinking of this suggestion because she cannot leave her parents behind. However, after getting targeted by the curse of the spirals, Kirei agrees to escape, but is it too late now?
Final thoughts
The official trailer of the series should have removed every fear from the minds of Junji Ito fans, as this anime adaptation could be the best true horror manga anime adaptation to date.
The flow of the CGI, the eerie atmosphere, the combination with the monochrome colors, and everything else showcased in the series' trailer indicate that horror fans could be up for a treat.
