Haro Aso is a retired manga artist who was born in 1980 in Osaka, Japan, and his work in the Alice in Borderland series made him a well-known screenwriter. He also appeared in the live-action show as an actor in Episode 6 of Season 1 and Episode 1 of Season 2. He also wrote the manga of Hyde and Closer in 2007.

Haro studied at Kansai University, but after just one year, he dropped out and kept working hard on his manga. In 2005, he made his debut with Yunge as a manga artist, but his real breakthrough success came on 26 December 2007 when he released his manga series Hyde & Closer.

Haro loves to watch zombie movies, and eventually he realized that he should also write a zombie manga. He added a twist by a corporate company's toxic culture, which his friends went through. He interviewed them, asking about the work culture because he himself had never worked in such a company, which made him create characters like Gonzou Kosugi, a bully in the company.

Haro Aso approached Kotaro Takata because in the past he said that he wanted to work on a zombie-themed anime. Haro even used Takada's plan to go home to do farming in the anime, which sees the main protagonist Akira also go back home to do farming with his dad.
