While it has been some time since Yona of the Dawn season 1 premiered, fans are still hoping for a season 2. The fans' hype around the series has yet not died down as they hope for Studio Pierrot to renew the series. That said, let's look at the possibility of the anime releasing a second season.

Mizuho Kusanagi's Yona of the Dawn follows the story of Yona, the sole princess of Kouka. She used to live a lavish life when one day she was betrayed by her cousin and was forced to exile from her kingdom with her bodyguard Son Hak. Following that, she is on a journey to restore her kingdom.

Can fans expect Yona of the Dawn season 2 to be announced?

Yona of the Dawn season 1 premiered back in October 2014 and aired all the way till March 2015 with 24 episodes. Since then, it has been over eight years, and Studio Pierrot has yet to announce or hint at the possibility of a second season.

As per the series' mangaka, Mizuho Kusanagi, the likelihood of Studio Pierrot animating a second season is bleak since the Blu-ray disk sales were too low. Regardless of how beloved the series is to the fans, an animation studio must always look at the profitability before announcing an anime, which is why Yona of the Dawn season 2 may be a far-fetched dream for fans of the series.

However, the manga is still ongoing, with over 40 volumes collected. So, if fans of the series want to know the story that takes place after the plot of the first season, they can read the manga.

In addition, the manga having collected 40 volumes means that there is enough source material available for Studio Pierrot to animate the anime if they decide to do so. The anime had only adapted manga content worth of right volumes in the first season, meaning 32 manga volumes worth of content are still left to be given an anime adaption.

However, as fans would know, some of that content has already been adapted as part of OVAs. As such, despite there being more than enough source material available for the anime, the studio hesitancy to produce the anime means that they might have given up on the series entirely. So, fans could only hope for a second season or the entire series to be rebooted by some other studio.

What is the expected release date for Yona of the Dawn season 2?

While the chances of a second season are low, there is also the slim possibility that the anime's next season or specials would be announced, given that Studio Pierrot also released a sequel for the Bleach anime after a decade.

With Studio Pierrot currently possibly working online on a few series like Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, Osomatsu-san, and four special episodes of Naruto, there is a chance that the animation studio might renew Yona of the Dawn.

If that were to happen, fans can expect the anime to be released sometime in 2024.
