Indonesia's Hendra Setiawan was the costliest player bought by the Pune 7 Aces at the auction for Premier Badminton League 2020 on Tuesday.

The No.2 ranked men's doubles player, who is the reigning World Champion is a 2008 Olympic gold medallist and a two-time Asian Games gold medal winner was signed for his base price of ₹40 lakhs.

He will be spearheading the men's doubles department for the Pune-based franchise along with the young Chirag Shetty, who was retained by the team for ₹15.5 lakh. Shetty has been in amazing form this year, having clinched a title win at the Thailand Open 2019 win and finishing as the runner-up at the 2019 French Open. Along with his doubles partner Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag currently is ranked seventh in the doubles category.

The men's singles department will be led by Loh Kean Yew, whose services were snapped up by the Aces after a long bidding war at the auction. Starting with a base price of ₹10 lakh, the young Singapore player was finally sold for ₹36 lakh, and he will be joined by Kazumasa Sakai (Japan) and Mithun Manjunath (India) at the Aces.

India's Rituparna Das also attracted interest from quite a few franchises before the Aces landed the final bid of ₹8 lakh, a steep increment from her base price of ₹2.5 lakh. Rituparna will be joined by Vietnam's Vu Thị Trang in the women's singles division.

The mixed doubles champion at the Korea Masters 2019 and Chinese Taipei Open 2019, Tse Ying Suet will also be a part of the Aces and will be joined by Kuhoo Garg in the women's mixed event.
