The Chicago Cubs travel to the City of Brotherly Love for a high-stakes series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The latter claimed the series victory during the last meeting between the two sides in April 2025.
The Northsiders currently hold the lead in the National League Central and are poised to take the series away from the Phils, who have been on a downward spiral in the absence of superstar Bryce Harper.
Game 1 should be a tough matchup, though, as Philly is set to start ace Zack Wheeler opposite the Cubs' Matthew Boyd.

Cubs vs. Phillies recent form and records
Chicago is coming off a series loss to the red-hot Detroit Tigers squad led by Tarik Skubal. Despite the hurdles of the past week, they've posted a 40-25 record for the year and are four games ahead at top of the division. In addition, they've built up a solid 20-14 record on the road that will be tested in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, has won one out of its last 10 games. A huge factor in the team's downfall has been Bryce Harper's wrist injury, which has kept him out of action since June 6. The squad was swept in its most recent series against the vastly inferior Pirates and is now on a five-game losing streak. Although they've maintained a winning 37-28 record, they are now 4.5 games behind the Mets.

Cubs vs. Phillies picks and game prediction
Although the Phillies have been on a losing streak, they are slightly favored in the series opener as ace Zack Wheeler will take the bump. In nine career appearances against the Cubs, Wheeler has compiled a respectable 3.59 ERA. Still, Chicago's high-octane offense should prevail against an ailing Phillies squad that has lost its form as of late.
