MLB's new rules aimed at speeding up the game made their regular-season debut, and many fans are less than thrilled with the changes. The average length of games was reduced by about 18 minutes, which is in line with what the league was hoping for. There was also an increase in steals made in each game on average. There were also, of course, the first examples of pitch clock violations. The general consensus has been that these violations will dwindle as the season continues and players get used to the rules. For some fans, however, these changes are not worth the results. Having the batters count changed by their preparedness rather than a pitch certainly feels strange.Talkin' Baseball on Twitter shared a summary of the major changes to Opening Day on Twitter.Talkin’ Baseball@TalkinBaseball_Opening Day games were an average of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Part of the beauty of baseball is all the history the game has, which is now being affected. The game is fundamentally not the same as it was last season, which was essentially the way it had always been played. Some consider this a step backwards instead of the progress it was intended to be.Matt Donaher@M_donaherSaving 20 minutes is pointless twitter.com/talkinbaseball…Talkin’ Baseball@TalkinBaseball_Opening Day games were an average of 2 hours and 45 minutes. They have done an excellent job of turning superstars like Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto into household names. However, they clearly wanted to make the game more accessible for new fans. In the process, it seems they have turned off some of their passionate and dedicated fans.Isaac Goodwin@itsisaacgoodwin@TalkinBaseball_ @JesseRogersESPN So we’re looking at over 2,000 violations for the season….
