MLB teams

Major League Baseball is a professional baseball organization that is based in the U.S.A and Canada. The MLB is the oldest professional sports league in the USA. The MLB consists of two leagues; the American League and the National League. The National League is the oldest league in the MLB and dates back to 1876. The American is much more recent and its origin dates back to 1901. Each league comprises 15 teams, resulting in a total of 30 teams in Major League Baseball. Twenty-nine of the total teams are from the United States and one hails from Canada.

The teams compete in the regular season for a spot in the postseason. The MLB regular season is the main portion of the baseball calendar during which all 30 teams, divided into the American League (AL) and the National League (NL), compete in a series of games. Each team plays 162 games during the regular season, facing opponents within their league and division, as well as interleague matchups. In the postseason, six teams from each league advance which includes the three division winners and the top three wild card teams with the best records. The postseason features several series. It starts with the Wild Card round, a best -of-three series. The winners move on to the Division Series, where the remaining teams compete in the best-of-five series.

The winning teams from the Division Series advance to the League Championship Series, a best-of-seven series that determines the league champions. The champions of the AL and NL then face off in the World Series, another best-of-seven series, to compete for the title of MLB champion. The postseason structure allows for intense competition and culminates in the World Series, where the two league champions vie for baseball supremacy. This format has been a longstanding tradition in MLB, offering fans thrilling moments and crowning the ultimate champion in the sport.
