The 2024 MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field has broken all records in viewership, becoming the most-watched All-Star event in the history of American sports. FOX Sports reported on X/Twitter that they attained 7.6 million viewers across FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports' streaming services.
Paul Skenes, Shohei Ohtani and Jarren Duran attracted many eyeballs to themselves, which is a significant rise from their second-lowest viewed game in 2023. The record number of viewers watched the American League's 5-3 victory over the National League in Arlington, Texas.

Even the Spanish coverage of the game on the FOX Deportes also reported seeing a 36% rise in viewership in comparison to last year. This wasn't the case with the 2024 Home Run Derby though, as it experienced a decrease in viewership compared to the last two years. It had 5.45 million people watching on ESPN, while in 2023 it was 6.11 million and in 2022 it was 6.88 million.
Shohei Ohtani makee history in 2024 MLB All-Star Game
Shohei Ohtani cemented his place in All-Star history on Tuesday night. Despite a decorated regular season career in the past seasons as well, Ohtani had yet to blast a homer in the Midsummer Classic.
However, at Globe Life Field, Ohtani changed the narrative with just one shot. Facing Boston's Tanner Houck, he launched a three-run blast that had the crowd screaming and broke the scoreless tie. He became the only player in baseball history to gain a win on the mound and a home run in his All-Star game career:
“In general, I haven't really hit well during the All-Star Game,” Ohtani said through an interpreter. “So I'm just relieved that I put a good ball in play.”
Ohtani is the 10th Los Angeles Dodgers player to hit a homer during the All-Star Game, and the second Japanese man to do so. Before him, the San Francisco Giants' Ichiro Suzuki had hit a homer back in 2007.
In the past three All-Star games, Ohtani had only gone 1-for-4 with just two walks and no RBIs at all. However, after this year's game, Ohtani has improved his number and now sits at a .333/.556/.833 slash.
