Adolis Garcia won the ALCS MVP after a record setting series against the Houston Astros

Adolis Garcia has been the true hero for the Texas Rangers as they made their way to the World Series by defeating the Houston Astros in seven games in the ALCS. The Rangers slugger was named the ALCS MVP for his fifteen RBIs and five home runs in the series.

In the decider, Garcia went 4-5 with two RBI singles and two solo shots to left field. His five RBIs night broke the record for most RBIs by a single batter in postseason history, going past Nelson Cruz, who had 13 for the Rangers in their 2011 ALCS matchup against the Detroit Tigers.

Garcia now has 20 postseason RBIs and has homered for four straight games. He is just one shy of David Freeze, who had set the record with 21 back in 2011. The outfielder is the first person to hit RBIs in six straight games within a single postseason series and is expected to extend that streak in the World Series with his current form.

Teammate Corey Seager had some strong words to describe the incredible performance put up by Garcia in the series.

"He's a bad man isn't he? To be able to come in this atmosphere, where he's getting booed during every at-bat, it's incredible what he did. It's pretty special and fun to watch," Seager said.

Why Adolis Garcia's ALCS MVP is so special?

Like the protagonist of any storyline, Adolis Garcia had a perfect story arc. The 30-year-old was targeted by the Astros not just at the box but even with verbal insults from the fans in Minute Maid Park. Following Game 5, a verbal confrontation ensued after Garcia was hit by a pitch intentionally by Bryan Abreu, which led to the pitcher's suspension. This made Houston fans continuously heckle the outfielder every time he came to the box.

But Garcia seemed to defy all those odds. First, his game-sealing grand slam in Game 6 and now his multi-homer Game 7 are a testament to what makes this achievement so special.
