Atlanta Braves pitcher Kyle Wright will begin the season on the injured list, The Athletic’s David O’Brien reported, as the club plans to give him more time to build up for the rest of the season.

"#Braves’ Kyle Wright will begin season on IL, to give him more time to build up. His IL stint can be backdated to March 27, and he’ll be scheduled to start game in second home series. Means both prospects, Jared Shuster & Dylan Dodd, will make team and get starts on opening trip," David O'Brien, Twitter.

Wright won't start any of Atlanta's first five games of the season, which has resulted in the Braves making multiple early turns in their rotation. Rookies Jared Shuster and Dylan Dodd are in line for early season starts, as the pair will battle it out for the fifth starter spot.

The Braves open their season on March 30, have a day off on March 31, and then play a game every day until the April 13. Busy schedules like this create a dire need for a full rotation and a strong bullpen.

Wright picked up a shoulder niggle in the offseason that could be backdated to March and didn't make his first spring training start until last Monday. He is scheduled to return to the fray in Atlanta's second home series against the Cincinnati Reds on April 10-12.

Kyle Wright is a World Series champion with the Braves

The 27-year-old Kyle Wright was selected by the Atlanta Braves with the fifth overall selection of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft and made his major league debut in 2018.

Known for his consistency, Kyle has been a household name with the Braves for a couple of years now.
