“What the actual hell are we doing? Fire this entire front office. Passed on Condon, Caglianone, Kurtz, and Smith,” another fan wrote.

While some criticized their choice, many others praised the Reds for their pick.

“Let’s go Burns has an arm on him! Great pick!” a comment reads.
“Finally, a decent draft choice by the Reds. I mean, Burns is no ace, but he's got some potential. Maybe they're thinking about building around him for the future. Still, you'd think they could've gone after someone with more upside,” another comment reads.

“Reds have boosted their pitching in their farm system in a huge fashion. Last season they drafted Wake Forest ACE Rhett Lowder and this season they select Wake Forest ACE Chase Burns!” someone wrote.

The Cincinnati Reds have picked players from Wake Forest University in consecutive years for their top draft selections. Last year, they chose Rhett Lowder as the seventh overall pick of the 2023 MLB Draft.

"I was pretty surprised. I didn’t really know what to think. I kind of got a quick call. I’m just really excited."
"That pitching lab they have is no joke. Just being able to get in there and work with all the new technology that baseball has coming, [I] learned how to move better, and the mental game really helped me elevate my game."
