A week before the MLB tradeline, the Oakland Athletics star Mason Miller became one of the top attractions for other teams. However, his trade rumors have been put to a halt after a fractured finger. At first, it was reported that it happened because he tried to punch a padded training table in frustration.

However, as per MLB.com, it was reported that it wasn't out of frustration; instead, he placed his hand "awkwardly" while preparing for an exercise. For this reason, Miller was pulled from the series opener against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Miller was delivering stellar performances in back-to-back games before landing on the injured list.

That has raised a discussion among fans, as Miller won't be up for the trade anymore and will have to continue with the Athletics for now.

Other fans questioned the reason behind Mason Miller not being careful with his hands at such a crucial stage of the season:

"Why? He’s been dominate and they’ve been doing fine… literally no reason to do that," one fan asked.
"Weird way to celebrate but to each their own!" one fan remarked.
"Athletics are so used to losing, they get mad when they win," one fan mentioned.

"He just needs his right arm. He’s fine," one fan opined.

Miller, a breakout star this season with 70 strikeouts and 15 saves in 34 appearances, was named to the All-Star Game and showcased his overpowering stuff by striking out Shohei Ohtani. His absence will be felt by the Oakland Athletics.

A's manager Mark Kotsay explained how the injury occurred, saying that it was an act of rage on Miller's end.

“Out of a little bit of frustration, he just kind of pounded his fist down on a padded training table, out of emotion,” Kotsay said. “We’ve all been there, done it. Unfortunately, it resulted in a fracture in his non-pitching hand.”

Mason Miller was replaced by right-hander Ross Stripling, who has just been activated by the Athletics from the injured list for his elbow injury. The Athletics enjoyed a 6-5 victory against the Angels in Miller's absence.
