Fans of the Atlanta Braves will know all about Bally Sports. One of the network's local arms, Bally Sports South, broadcast all 162 Braves games last season. Now, fans are wondering if they'll be able to tune in again during the 2023 season.

Bally Sports is owned by the Diamond Sports Group, a media and entertainment subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group. Since the 1980s, Sinclair has been buying up local Fox Sports outlets and rebranding them under the Bally Sports moniker.

On February 15, 2023, Diamond Sports Group failed to make an interest payment that was valued at around $140 million. The team was granted a 30-day grace period to facilitate the payment, lest they face a potential Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

"Diamond Sports Group, owner of Bally Sports and the largest portfolio of regional sports networks, is preparing to file for bankruptcy. They're struggling to make debt payments amid dwindling viewership. Here's why the regional sports business model is in trouble:" - @ Adam Ryan

Bally Sports' local networks were regular season broadcast partners for 16 teams in 2022 including the Atlanta Braves. The recent news surrounding Bally's parent company has left fans of these teams wondering if they will be able to catch all the action the way they did in 2022.

As of February 23 2023, Bally Sports South has not made any indication that they intend to cease their broadcasts of Atlanta Braves games.

Preparations are being made for them to carry out the Atlanta Braves' spring training, starting with their game against the New York Mets on March 23rd.

"Congratulations and Welcome to Braves baseball on Bally Sports, Brandon. Can’t wait to get started. Your first TV game…spring training March 23. Excited for Braves Country to hear your game call." - @ Jeff Genthner

The network has the largest reach of any of the regional networks. Fans can also catch teams like the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds in addition to the Atlanta Braves. For fans without cable, Bally Sports South has a DIRECT TV streaming option available. Options range from the "Choice" package for a monthly fee of $99.99.

Additionally, fans can catch the feeds of Bally Sports South with a subscription to fuboTV. Currently, a subscription costs $74.99 for the "Pro" plan and $94.99 for the "Premier" plan.

The future of Bally Sports covering the Atlanta Braves and other teams is uncertain

While things seem set to continue as normal for now, it is not known if Diamond Sports will be able to avoid bankruptcy. If they do, it could represent the biggest challenge for local MLB broadcasting in decades.
