As MLB teams get started making their offseason moves, the Minnesota Twins have remained relatively quiet. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal believes it's because they are happy with the team.
Despite a disappointing season in the MLB this year, they have a roster that's both talented and deep in most areas. Rosenthal said on Foul Territory that their real challenge will be to put Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis in the field together:
"It seems to me that they're not too eager to spend... The key thing with the Twins, they like their team. The question is, can Royce Lewis, Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa stay on the field all at once? Didn't happen all that often last season.
"So they will either need to be creative or sign a couple of players that they feel can fill in the gaps for them."
Since the start of the MLB offseason this year, AL Central teams like the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals have started making moves in the market. However, the Minnesota Twins haven't shown interest in making any big moves.
MLB insider breaks down Carlos Correa's complicated situation with the Minnesota Twins
Shortstop Carlos Correa is arguably Minnesota Twins' most valuable player, but he's also their most expensive.
Hence, it remains to be seen how the Minnesota front office builds the roster around the Puerto Rican next year. According to MLB reporter Michael Rand, it puts them in a complicated position:
"At current spending levels, the Twins will have a very hard time building a winning roster that includes Correa. But they would also have a hard time winning without him if a trade ended up being consummated."
Hence, while Correa has a full no-trade clause in Minnesota, they might have to entertain a trade offer if it makes financial sense for them. Only time will tell if they can build a winning team arround their star player.
