Carlos Beltran reflects on the changes that he brought within himself to become a more rational ball player

Carlos Beltran celebrated an intriguing and very exciting time in the major leagues with seven different ballclubs. He spent most of his time with the Royals and the Mets, but won his one and only World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017. It was a season marred by a sign-stealing scandal and 29 ballclubs demanding the World Series title be revoked.

On the Mets'd Up Podcast, Beltran spoke about some of the changes he brought within himself to become a more rational ball player.

"There were a lot of things I ended up doing that normally I didn't do before," Carlos Beltran said.

Beltran has spent a long time with the Mets organization in the major leagues, first as a player and then working with the management in the front office. Before the 2020 season, the Mets signed 45-year-old Beltran to manage the team.

Nevertheless, Beltran was fired before he got a chance to oversee proceedings due to the consequences of the 2017 Astros sign-stealing scandal. He was the only player whom the commissioner's office specifically accused. The 2017 season marked Beltrán's final one.

Carlos Beltran joined the Mets' front office yet again in 2022 and is now working on staying there for a long time, working from behind a desk and imparting his knowledge on the field.

Carlos Beltran was just on the Hall of Fame ballot for the first time. He received 46.5% of the vote.

His case was undoubtedly damaged by the scandal because, according to statistics, he should have been far closer to the 75% threshold required for induction. Beltran hit.279/.350/.486 in his 20-year MLB career, with 435 home runs and 2,725 hits.
