Clayton Kershaw has been in the MLB for almost two decades. He has spent 17 MLB seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and his wife Ellen opened up about their experience with the organization over the years.
Having spent his entire professional career with the LA team, the former MVP and his family have a close relationship with the organization. On the ALOHO podcast, Ellen Kershaw described the Dodgers as a family-friendly organization and explained how they help the players and their families:
"I think it depends on what organizations you're with, but the Dodgers are well known for being very family-friendly. So we can actually fly on the team plane, the last leg back to LA, we can stay in the hotel room with them all the time.
"And not only that, they do family brunches every morning, and they set up really great family excursions for us once the guys go to the field. It actually is very family-friendly, but I think it also has to be, again because of so many games, and there's so many days we couldn't possibly spend that much time or expect the guys to be away from their family that much."
"I really like to think the performance, it correlated with how family friendly the organization is."
Clayton Kershaw has made 10 All-Star appearances and won an NL MVP, three Cy Young awards and a World Series title. In the twilight of his illustrious career now, he remains close to the Dodgers organization.
Throughout his time with the Dodgers, his wife Ellen has been by his side. The couple are high school sweethearts who got married in 2010 and have four children together.
MLB insider backs Clayton Kershaw to end his illustrious career with the Dodgers
Clayton Kershaw made only seven appearances last year in a season riddled with injuries.
He declined the player option on his contract for 2025, making him a free agent. Nonetheless, insider Jon Morosi believes that he will return to the Los Angeles Dodgers for his swansong:
"We all believe he will be a Dodger for life... #22 is going to finish his career with the Dodgers."
There's no doubt that Kershaw is running on fumes, but his decision to undergo knee surgery suggests that he could look to return to the MLB. He will no doubt have plenty of suitors as a free agent, but only time will tell if he remains a Dodger next year.
