The Boston Red Sox are bringing back former pitcher Craig Breslow to work in the front office. He will be the team's new head of baseball operations for the 2024 season.

Breslow spent 12 years in the big leagues as a relief pitcher. He had two stints with Boston. One was in 2006, and the other was from 2012-2015.

He was solid during his time in Boston. He threw 211 innings, posting a 3.80 ERA across five seasons. Breslow also helped the team win a World Series title in 2013.

After his retirement, he joined the Chicago Cubs in 2018 as their Director of Strategic Initiatives. Now, he will work on turning the Red Sox back into a winning baseball team.

I'm Fn pumped he's got the job. He will be outstanding!" one fan posted.
"Finally some positive news" another fan posted.

Boston fans could not be happier with Craig Breslow joining the organization. As a Yale graduate, he has an excellent mind.

Breslow is replacing Chaim Bloom, who was relieved of his duties in September. He will have his hands full as Boston plays in arguably the toughest division in MLB.

What can Craig Breslow do to help turn around the Boston Red Sox?

Craig Breslow will have his hands full trying to turn around the Boston Red Sox this offseason. They finished the year in last place in the American League East. They finished 23 games behind the Baltimore Orioles in the division.

One of the key areas that Breslow will want to focus on is the starting pitching staff. This was a weak point for the team at times, with many pitchers getting injured, like Chris Sale. They desperately need an ace that they can depend on heading into the 2024 season.

Luckily for the team, quite a few quality starting pitchers will be free agents. Japenese sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto is a pitcher to whom the team has already linked their name. Blake Snell and Aaron Nola are also names that draw attention.

Another focus for the team will be bringing in another right-handed bat. The lineup was left-handed dominant during the 2023 season, which sometimes hurt them. Teoscar Hernandez or Lourdes Gurriel Jr. come to mind, as they will be free agents at the end of the season.

Whatever they do during the offseason, they need to ensure they come out competitive next year, or the fanbase will be unglued.
