The Arizona Diamondbacks, underdogs with an 84-win record and a negative run differential, are headed to the World Series.

Emmanuel Rivera scored from second base on Carroll's line drive on a 2-1 sinker up the middle, tying the score at two apiece.

Carroll hit three left-handed pitchers in a single game for the first time; all of them were Suárez, who had entered Game 7 with an outstanding playoff record.

Carroll was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 16th overall choice in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft.

For his first professional assignment, he was given the $3.7 million Arizona League Diamondbacks.

On Aug. 29, 2022, the Diamondbacks promoted Carroll to the main leagues. Carroll agreed an eight-year, $111 million contract deal with the Diamondbacks in 2023.

It was revealed that Carroll will make his first-ever All-Star appearance in the 2023 All-Star Game as the starting outfielder.
