The weather hasn't been great to start the baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. According to an official statement from the Cardinals, the game has been delayed due to inclement weather in the St. Louis area.

Just minutes before the scheduled first pitch time, the Cardinals shared an update with fans.

"Due to inclement weather in the St. Louis area, the start of tonight’s game has been delayed. We will provide updates as they become available," the update said.

Roughly 50 minutes later, a follow-up post added that:

“Weather permitting, tonight’s game is estimated to begin at 8:30 PM CT.”

A heavy rain is passing through the St. Louis area, making field conditions unsafe. Grounds crews have reportedly been working to keep Busch Stadium playable, but lightning in the area has forced teams and officials to err on the side of caution.

The series marks the start of the Dodgers' six-game road trip. To start June, the Dodgers won the series against the New York Yankees and managed to split four games with the New York Mets. This includes a wild 6-5 comeback win over the Mets on Thursday.

After the Cardinals, the Dodgers will face the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
